Consistency is the secret to social media growth, and planning is the secret to consistency. Here is our step-by-step method to plan a full month of content in a single afternoon.
"What should I post today?" If you ask yourself that every morning, your social media will always be inconsistent. The fix is a content calendar: a simple plan that tells you what to post, where and when. Here's how to build a full month of content in one focused afternoon.
Step 1: Look back before planning forward (15 minutes)
Open your Instagram and Facebook insights. Which posts got the most reach, saves, shares and enquiries last month? Note the topics and formats. Your new plan should include more of what already works.
Step 2: Mark key dates (15 minutes)
Add festivals, holidays, seasons and business events to your calendar: Diwali, Holi, Lohri, Baisakhi, wedding season, monsoon, back-to-school, year-end sales, plus your own launches, anniversaries and offers. Plan festival posts at least a week in advance.
Step 3: Use a weekly theme template (20 minutes)
Give each weekday a recurring theme so you never start from a blank page:
| Day | Theme | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Tip or how-to | "3 ways to keep your kitchen cabinets looking new" |
| Tuesday | Work showcase | Before/after Reel of a recent project |
| Wednesday | Behind the scenes | Team at work, process, packing orders |
| Thursday | Social proof | Customer review or video testimonial |
| Friday | Offer or product focus | New arrival, weekend offer |
| Weekend | Engagement | Poll, question, fun or trending content |
Step 4: Brainstorm ideas in bulk (30 minutes)
Fill each theme with 4–5 ideas for the month. Good idea sources: questions customers ask on calls and WhatsApp, competitor posts (do it better, don't copy), Google's "People also ask" box, and your own past top posts, which you can remake with a fresh angle.
Step 5: Batch-create content (90 minutes)
- Shoot all videos in one session: change outfits or locations between clips.
- Design graphics with templates in Canva so everything stays on-brand.
- Write captions together: a hook line, the value, then a call to action.
Step 6: Schedule everything (30 minutes)
Use Meta Business Suite (free) to schedule Facebook and Instagram posts in advance. Keep a little flexibility for trending topics and real-time Stories.
Step 7: Review weekly, adjust monthly
Spend 10 minutes each week replying to comments and checking performance. At the end of the month, repeat from Step 1. Every month your plan gets smarter.
